How to pick the perfect watermelon
Today we are gonna go through the steps of how to pick the perfect watermelon.
At first glance, you want to make sure the watermelon has a strong and consistent striping pattern. The green should be a deep dark rich tone, while the pale part should be a creamy light yellow.
You want to look for a large spot on the watermelon. This is where the watermelon sat on the ground while it ripened. As you inspect the watermelon, look for the stem that is yellow and brown. A green stem is not gonna be right.
Of course you are gonna knock on the watermelon, and you are listening for a deep hollow sound.
Look for spots on the outside of the watermelon that look like dry weathered and very textured and rough. These spots mean the watermelon is extra sweet.
When you lift the watermelon, it should feel much heavier than it looks.
Typically the elongated watermelons that are more oval in shape are less sweet, so if you like a sweater watermelon, go for a more round ball-shape.
With these simple steps, you can be confident that next time you are choosing the watermelon, you pick the very best one.
